Welcome to the land of Krassena, where darkness is encroaching. Nestled in the verdant depths of the Kress Forest is the quiet village of Kress, and in this village has lived the legendary Kress mages for generations.
Now a shadow with an ancient grudge has come out of hiding after more than ten thousand years, his destructive force moving through the Kress forest, corrupting the creatures and even bringing forth shadow within the mages of Kress. This black knight leads an army of monstrous beasts, and only one person stands in his way: the young mage Kaskamai.
Demo arriving shortly!

Entry 4: Development
People might have questions on how Metroid V is going to be developed, as it needs to move smoothly and quickly, being a more action-oriented title. After some deliberation, I've decided not to use Game Maker. Instead, I will use the Torque Game Engine by GarageGames. It comes free in the book 3D Game Programming: All in One, which will help matters.
Independent of this, it will take a while to be released, so be patient.

Metroid V: Emergence
I made this logo in PhotoShop. It took a while, but the result looks very good, don't you think?
For this, I am going to put myself into a Metroid frenzy. I am going to complete my Logbook in Prime 3, defeat Hypermode difficulty, then go back and grind Prime 2 beneath my heel, maybe brush through Prime 1, then go buy both/either Zero Mission and Fusion - probably the latter. Oh, and I might finish Super Metroid. There is one thing I will do many times, though: play and replay the opening section of Prime 3. Why? I shall elaborate.
The opening of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was not like that of any other Metroid game: it was a high-octane adrenaline-filled battle. Afterwards, Samus popped off to Bryyo and things settled down all the way until the finale - the same sort of pace in any other Metroid game.
My plan for Metroid Emergence is to make the first-person adventure of the Metroid Prime series into a first-person action game - not quite a real shooter, but closer. In other words, I want to replicate the opening section of Prime 3, but let it stretch for the whole game.
Check back later for promo art and more details.

Status Report
Here's the breakdown: I'm this close to releasing SPIRITS: The Wind Crystal demo 3.5, but Okami has gotten in the way. Let me say it now: Okami is the #1 game of all-time. Play it if you haven't already - and finish it!
Now, YoYo Games has set out their 3rd Game Competition, with the theme of co-operation. Now this one I am going to enter. I have a few ideas already.

Entry 3: So it goes...
Things are...dull around here, eh? What have I actually been doing...good question.
I need to finish SPIRITS: The Wind Crystal, because it's going to take another game before I can introduce Menace and the Lordship. And then I have a deadline to keep: revealing what the ??? is on time.
Sometimes I think I should stop posting "previews" of games that aren't ever going to be "viewed". For instance, in reference to Metroid Galaxy I'm probably going back to a 2D scroller. And Densetsu? Canned. I just couldn't work out a game idea. I'm just finicky that way.
I may as well post a "working projects" list. So, here ya go:
Working Projects:
SPIRITS: The Wind Crystal
2D Metroid
The Family of Kress
The Family of Kress is close to a working demo, but I should probably get back on track with The Wind Crystal.
In other news, I'll be hopping on to the next level this summer. Or should I say, the next dimension!!
Hahahahaha...ha...ha. Ha. Heh...
Yes, well, I'll be participating in the 3D Game Design summer program by iD Tech. I think this could be a good opportunity to unveil the above-stated ??? in style...that is, in 3D.

Game Preview!
This is a game I've been working at off and on for quite a while. It's not made with Game Maker, but a different program I don't think quite as highly of: RPGMaker. The game?

If you want to win in this game, you will have to learn the strengths and weaknesses of every foe, for ineffectual attacks will doom you in a second. Be cautious, and be brave.
Darknu is waiting...

Entry 3: I'm Not Slacking!!
Believe me, I'm not! You want to know what I'm up to? Let me tell you...
Metroid Galaxy
Remember in the last blog entry, in which I discussed a 2D Metroid game? That has been canned. Yep. That's all I've done.
...
NOT! I've actually totally rethunk the game, turning it into a Metroid Prime-ier game. Still expect a huge number of beams and stuff, but different ones. Probably no Seed Missile, for example. Cross your fingers for the Metroid Grapple, but...I don't know.
My end intent is to make an MMOG (massively multiplayer online game, for the ignorant) out of it, with at least semi-customizable characters. Will that be realized? ...I'm not sure.
Densetsu (Working Title)
Roughly translated into English, the Japanese word densetsu means "legend" or "legendary". I'm not sure if it deserves that grand a title - but it could earn me legendary amounts of money. Why? YoYo Games is having a game making competition with a grand prize of $1000 USD, and I'll be entering this game!
Have you ever played NiGHTS? I really don't like it, but Densetsu plays more than a bit like it. Move the cursor and hold down the left mouse button and Densetsu (the working name for the cuddly main character) will fly to it. You can do maneuvers there's no way to do otherwise!
You'll have a time limit to complete certain objectives, which could range from collecting the currently unspecified score items to flying through a series of rings or arches.
Stand by for game screen shots!
